The
Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 VT was to be the final incarnation of
the Diablo model. After Audi's purchase of Lamborghini they
set out to upgrade the Diablo before its replacement, the Lamborghini Murcielago, was introduced.
The VT 6.0 was Audi's only revamp of the Diablo. Extensive styling
modifications were made to both the exterior and interior. The
front bumper, air intakes, dashboard, seats and switchgear were
modified and improved.
The engine of the Diablo VT 6.0 is a 6 litre V12 based on the
motor that powered the Diablo GT, which in itself was essentially
a modified version of the 5.7 litre V12. The redesigned engine
featured upgraded ECU software, a new intake and exhaust system,
and a refined variable valve timing system with slightly less
aggressive camshafts than had been used in the earlier models.
