The Ferrari 348 was the replacement entry level Ferrari, taking
over where the 328 left off. Bigger than its predecessor, the
348 had a longitudanlly mounted 300 horsepower, 3.4 litre V8
positioned low in its chassis providing a low center of gravity
and superb handling.
The name 348 'tb' refers to the fact the engine is a 3.4 litre,
V8 with a transverse, hence the 't', mounted gearbox.
The Pininfarina designed Ferrari 348 came in three forms, coupe
(348 tb), targa (348 ts) and a convertible (348 Spider).
The Ferrari 348 was replaced by the Ferrari
F355 which was based on the 348's chassis but with improved
mechanicals and a more up to date body.
