The
Ferrari 575 Superamerica is a convertible Berlinetta version
of the 575M Maranello. There
were only 559 Superamerica's constructed, making it one of the
most exclusive cars ever built. This unusual production number
follows Enzo Ferrari's business philosophy that there should
always be one fewer cars made than what could be sold.
The 575 Superamerica features an electrochromic glass panel
roof which rotates 180° at the rear to lay flat over the boot.
The use of electrochromic glass means that the driver can completely
control the level of light entering the cars cockpit. There
are five tint levels available and the glass can go from dark
to light in under a minute, at the touch of a button.
Power output for the Superamerica was increased to 540 hp, and
the GTC handling package is also available making the car making
it one of the world's fastest convertible berlinetta's with
a top speed of 199 mph. The Superamerica is available with either
an F1-style or manual gearbox.
