driver orientated supercars of all time. Over 1000 F40's were
produced during it's lifespan. Built to commemorate the 40th
anniversary of the company, the Ferrari F40 was, at the time,
the fastest road going Ferrari ever produced.
The story goes that Enzo Ferrari himself wanted the F40 to have
500 horsepower, he ended up with 478 hp found @ 7000 rpm. The
2936 cc V8 was a derivation of the engine found in the Ferrari 288 GTO, complimented by larger twin turbochargers
and an increase in boost pressure.
A traditional steel spaceframe
chassis is covered by carbonfibre and Kevlar panels. Styled
by Ferrari's traditional designers, Pininfarina, the F40 was
unveiled in July 1987 at the Maranello factory.
To this day few supercars command as much respect from enthusiasts,
experts and the general public as the Ferrari F40.
