The motorsport division of Lotus Cars Ltd, Lotus Sport, has
developed two high performance versions of the 2006 Lotus Exige,
the Lotus Exige Cup and the Lotus Exige Cup 240, both cars have
been developed for track use without the need for modification.
The Exige Cup cars feature an uprated clutch, sports exhaust,
adjustable suspension, uprated brakes, limited slip differential,
switchable traction control, a T45 steel roll-over hoop and Aframe
with harness mounts, fuel and ignition kill switches and a fully
plumbed in fire extinguisher system. An FIA approved 6 point
roll cage is a no cost option.
As the two model names suggest, there are two Lotus Exige Cup
models available, with two different engine options. The Lotus
Exige Cup uses a 189hp four cylinder
1.8 litre engine, and the higher performance Lotus Exige Cup
240 uses a supercharged
and intercooled 1.8 litre four cylinder
engine producing 243hp at 8000 rpm and a torque figure of 236
Nm at 7000 rpm.
Performance from both the Exige Cup models is impressive, with
the Lotus Exige Cup reaching 62 mph in 5.2 seconds and a top
speed of 147mph. The Lotus Exige Cup 240 reaches 62 mph in around
4.5 seconds and continues on to a top speed of 155 mph.
Both versions of the Lotus Exige Cup are built as official factory
conversions of new Lotus Exige cars by Lotus Sport at their
facilities in the Group Lotus Headquarters in Hethel, Norfolk,
UK. Each Exige Cup features a Lotus Sport build plate.
Other than engine performance, the Lotus Exige Cup cars have
identical specifications.
