The Volkswagen Corrado VR6 was the top spec model of the Corrado.
The Corrado used Volkswagen's B3 platform in the rear of the
car, while using the A2 platform technology up front, which
it shared with the then-current Golf and Jetta.
The Volkswagen Corrado offered exceptional handling for its
time and was listed as one of the "25 Cars You Must Drive
Before You Die" by the British magazine, Car. All
Corrado models featured an innovative rear spoiler which automatically
raised when the vehicle reached a set speed (45 mph - 65 mph
depending on the region).
Although the Corrado had been in production since 1988, the
VR6 model only appeared in 1992. Powered by a 2.9 litre, 12-valve,
190 horsepower (174 hp in the US) V6 engine the new car was
sold in the US as the G60, while other markets kept the VR6
name.
