The SSC Ultimate TT is one of a select breed of 1000+ horsepower
road legal cars, the Bugatti Veyron would be another option. At one
point the Ultimate TT held the world record as the fastest production
car at 257 mph. That has now been bested by the Veyron Super
Sport at 268 mph.
SSC (standing for Shelby Super Car, nothing to do with Carroll
Shelby) is an American company, and as such the car uses an
American engine, a supercharged
6 litre GM V8 to be precise. This force fed steroidal engine
is capable of launching the Ultimate TT to 60 miles an hour
in just 2.9 seconds.
Widespread use of lightweight composite materials such as carbon
fiber and titanium mechanical components no doubt helps
the sprint.
Like the Lamborghini Murcielago the SSC Aero Ultimate
has upward swinging scissor doors.
If the 1047 bhp found in the Ultimate TT is too much for you
then consider the SSC Aero SC/8T.
