The Ferrari FF (Ferrari Four) is the long awaited replacement
for the 612 Scaglietti.
By far the most prominent feature of the FF is its roofline.
This also immediately gives away the fact the FF is designed
to be far more practical than anything else you can get from
the company.
The Ferrari FF has been designed to be a versatile four-seater,
and it's also the first Ferrari to feature four-wheel drive.
Styled by Pininfarina, Ferrari's favorite design studio, the
FF displays a number of design elements borrowed from other
models in Ferrari's lineup. The headlights are reminiscent of
those found on the 458 Italia,
while the sculpted rear arches are similar to similar to the
Ferrari California's.
Powering the Ferrari FF is a 6.3 litre V12 with direct injection.
This engine produces 660 hp @ 8,000 rpm, and 683 Nm of torque
@ 6,000 rpm. Thanks in part to the relatively light overall
weight of 1,790 kgs (3946 lbs) - considerably less than its
predecessor - the Ferrari FF can reach 100km/h (62 mph) in just
3.7 seconds. Top speed is 208 mph.
The 4WD system of the FF is called 4RM in Ferrari parlance.
According to Ferrari it weighs 50 percent less than a conventional
four-wheel drive system. The transmission and drive system is
completely integrated with the FF's electronic dynamic control
systems, and offers plenty of grip over all terrains and in
all conditions via continuous and intelligent predictive torque
distribution to all four wheels.
The Ferrari FF is also equipped with the latest magnetorheological
damping system (SCM3), as well as the most recent development
in carbon-ceramic brakes from Brembo.
The interior of the Ferrari FF can be configured to carry either
four persons and some cargo (450 litres), or two persons and
a lot of cargo (800 litres).
