The 2009 KTM 1190 RC8 R is a lighter, more powerful race derived
version of the KTM 1190 RC8 superbike,
itself a development of the RC8 concept
from 2004.
Powering the KTM 1190 RC8 R is a 1195 cc, 75 degree, V-twin
engine which develops 164 horsepower @ 10,250 rpm, and 123 Nm
of torque @ 8,000 rpm.
The frame of the KTM 1190 RC8 R consists of a powder-coated
Chromium-Molybdenum trellis main unit and aluminium subframe.
The front suspension is handled by a fully adjustable WP 43
mm USD fork with 120mm of travel. At the rear is a fully adjustable
WP monoshock - also with 120mm of travel.
Braking is handled by 2 x Brembo four piston radially bolted
calipers, and 320 mm brake discs up front. The rear brake comprises
of a 220mm disc gripped by a Brembo 2-piston caliper.
Styling wise there is little to complain about, and KTM's designers
should be proud of their hard work. The angular, aggressive
bodywork of the KTM 1190 RC8 R looks razor sharp and is fantastically
defined in matt black with orange and white accents.
