The
2008 KTM 1190 RC8 is a development of the RC8 concept from 2004.
The production RC8 has managed to keep most of the styling features
which made the concept such a hit with the public.
The front fairing and windscreen is slightly larger but the
angular lines remain faithful to the original design.
Behind the bodywork is a 1148 cc V-twin which develops 155 horsepower
@ 10,000 rpm, and 120 Nm or torque @ 8,000 rpm. This gives the
1190 RC8 a 0-60 mph time of 3 seconds, and a 0-120 mph time
of less than 10 seconds. The engine also features dry-sump lubrication
and an integrated oil tank.
The chassis of the KTM 1190 RC8 comprises of a powder coated
Chromoly trellis frame and aluminium subframe, complimented
by 43 mm upside-down forks, 2 x Brembo four piston calipers
and 320 mm brake discs up front, and a Brembo two piston caliper
with 220 mm brake disc at the rear.
