The
Honda VTR1000F Firestorm (known as the Super Hawk in the US)
was a challenge to the Ducati V-twin bikes of the 1990's. First
introduced in 1997 the VTR1000F Firestorm was an advanced bike.
Featuring an aluminium truss twin-beam frame, adjustable sports
suspension and a water-cooled, 8 valve V-twin engine the VTR1000F
was both lighter and more powerful than the Ducati
916, a bike which cost twice the price.
The torquey V-twin provides plenty of power in the midrange
coming out of corners. The VTR1000F Firestorm engine provides
smoother power delivery than some of its competitors.
The chassis components, suspension and brakes, are nothing special,
but are also adequate.

I bought a 2005 VTR Firestorm brand new, and 40% of the time
the change from first to second goes smoothly. The rest of the
time there is a loud crunching and grinding sounds. Has anyone
else
had this faulty crunching noise?
