The Ducati 888 was developed from the 851
superbike, and used a related 888cc L-twin engine. The Ducati
888 was later replaced in 1993 by the legendary, and still popular,
Ducati 916.
The racing version of the Ducati 888 benefitted from the use
of numerous lightweight composite components. Including carbon
fiber silencers and carbon ceramic disc brakes.
During its very short lifespan, the Ducati 888 proved to be
a successful racing machine, achieving a double win which helped
Ducati win its second consecutive rider's title.
