The Aprilia design team did not just “undress” the RSV Mille supersport to create the RSV Mille Tuono. Rather, they “dressed” the bike with a whole range of new riding concepts. The process started by finding the optimum riding position, a perfect balance between sports performance and safety, aggressive riding and pure pleasure. The single piece ergal handlebars provide a natural grip near the rider’s body, ensuring optimum comfort, creating an instant “feeling” between rider and machine, and reducing strain on the arms and back in a sports riding position.
The aerodynamic nose fairing has a very low drag coefficient rating and provides effective protection against turbulence as well as making the ride safer and more comfortable in rapid acceleration and on long straights. The fairing’s spoiler action keeps the front end glued to the asphalt to let you make full use of the exuberant power from the engine.

The Aprilia Tuono 1000 R is the only machine in its class to deliver 125 HP at the crank. This absolute power is the incredible achievement of the Aprilia 60° longitudinal V twin dry sump engine, a real jewel of technology and performance, rightly acclaimed by mechanics and performance enthusiasts alike. Lightweight and compact, the engine is positioned in the frame to ensure perfect weight distribution and an optimum centre of gravity. Torque and power are instantly on tap and 100% usable at all times and at all engine speeds. The Tuono 1000 R power unit also features Aprilia’s two exclusive patents, the Anti Vibration Double Countershaft (AVDC) and the Pneumatic Power Clutch (PPC). PPC prevents rear wheel bounce when you change quickly down the box or close the throttle quickly coming into bends and braking hard..

The Tuono 1000 R Factory is two bikes in one. It is a world-beating superbike, ready to take on all comers in the thrills of the racing circuit as conclusively demonstrated by its domination of all the races in the 2003 Italian Naked Championship. At the same time it is also an extraordinary street-fighter and is fully homologated for riding on the public roads. The most prestigious racing kit comes as standard equipment. The fork is an Ohlins Racing 43 mm upside down unit with full precision adjustments. A Brembo radial brake caliper is fitted for maximum feel and braking efficiency. The OZ Racing forged aluminium wheels are manufactured using a special technology that eliminates all defects and porosity and guarantees exceptional dynamics and incredible savings in weight. And the all-carbon body parts are protected by nylon side buffers.
Even the look of the Tuono 1000 R Factory makes you want to own one. It is aggressive, aerodynamic and totally unmistakable in its black, red and yellow livery. And whether you ride on every day roads, or on racing circuits, the same incredible sensations are always yours.

The RSV Mille Tuono’s twin-spar aluminium and silicon alloy beam frame gives the best torsional rigidity in its class, and combines perfect geometry, proportions and finish. The chassis too features a range of exclusive parts, developed specially for this "naked hyper". These include an extruded, machined and anodised fork top yoke and risers. Derived from Aprilia’s experience in the Superbike World Championship, the multiadjustment suspensions easily adapt to all riding styles and preferences without requiring expensive part replacements. Safety is guaranteed by the exclusive braking system, designed by Aprilia in conjunction with Brembo for exceptional stopping power, smooth and gradual action. The system features solutions normally only found on competition machines, like 320 mm double stainless steel front discs with differential diameter four-pot caliper and two separate sintered pads.

The RSV Mille Tuono’s modern design is not just streamlined and aggressive. It also guarantees unbeatable riding ergonomics. The special seat, designed exclusively for the Tuono, is lower at the rear to allow the passenger to sit behind the rider without towering over him. This ensures improved stability, comfort and aerodynamic protection. The lower pillion also makes it easier to get on and off the bike - a small but important aspect of comfort and safety. The same, almost obsessive attention to detail has been lavished on all components. The spun nylon tank comes directly from the GP machine. The aluminium radiator guard, double air intake runners and protective nylon side buffers are important details. The front light cluster has been specially designed for minimum weight and maximum balance, and incorporates the permanent headlights device required by the latest traffic regulations. Finally, the racing style dashboard features amber backlighting for maximum visibility in all conditions and incorporates an on-board computer with 40 memory functions and injection system auto-diagnostics.
