The Toyota Hi-CT is a city car concept which was revealed
at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show.
In Toyota's words the Hi-CT concept is designed to deliver
a new "coolness" inspired by "the thinking
and lifestyles of youth".
For a small car the styling of the Toyota Hi-CT is chunky
and bold. The high sides and short windows exaggerate
the truck-like design. At the rear of the Toyota Hi-CT
concept there is a removable trunk and a deck where surfboards,
bicycles and other equipment can be stowed.
The funky Toyota Hi-CT is powered by a hybrid drivetrain
which uses a 1.5 litre engine and an electric motor. The
under-floor mounted battery can be recharged from the
mains. The location of the battery has the effect of raising
the drivers position giving better visibility, while also
lowering the vehicles center of gravity. The Hi-CT is
also fitted with an 100V socket which allows power from
the battery to be used for any electrical device.
