A
slab and block splitter is a heavyweight specialist tool which is
used to cut large blocks and slaps used for paving. Slab and block
splitters generally consist of a heavyweight guilotine-style blade
mechanism which is actuated by a large lever handle. When the handle
is pulled down it exerts a massive amount of force onto the slab
which splits it in two inline with the blade. The blade height of
the tool is usually adjustable to compensate for materials of different
thickness.
Slab and block splitters also come in hydraulic versions which takes
some of the effort out of the work.
