Jump
leads are a pair of heavy gauge, insulate wires with alligator clips
at each end. They come in various lengths and are often carried
by motorists.
Jump leads are used to jump start a vehicle that has a discharged
battery. They are attached to the discharged battery and to a second
battery, usually from another vehicle, and this temporary connection
provides enough power to start the disabled vehicle.
Jump leads are also known as Jumper Cables.
