An
engine crane is a portable, wheeled hoist designed specifically
to lift engines and gearboxes into and out of vehicle engine bays.
Engine cranes typically work hydraulically. The smaller, folding
variety, suitable for most automotive purposes, can support weights
of between about 500 kg and 2 tons. They may be used in conjunction
with an engine chain sling or a load leveler to level off center
loads quickly and easily.
