A
cylinder head stand is a fixture used to support automotive or motor
cycle cylinder heads off a workbench surface to enable most forms
of service or repair, such as valve work or head cleaning, and assembly.
Some models are free standing; others are designed to be held in
a vise, supporting the cylinder head up and away from the workbench
and allowing clearance for exhaust and/or intake manifolding to
be left on the heads (preferrable when working on many front wheel
drive four cylinder engines).
