Concept Cars > Porsche 913 Supercar ConceptForgetting the Panamera, Cayenne and Macan, Porsche offer a pretty well-rounded sports car range. Starting with the Boxster and Cayman, and moving up the multitude of variations of the Porsche 911, all the way up to the 918 Spyder supercar. But there is a HUGE price gap between the top of the range 911 Turbo ($250,000 will all the options ticked), to the 918 Spyder ($800,000). Somewhere in that range Porsche could surely offer something to compete with the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini. Something like the 913 possibly? Conceived by the fertile mind of Rene Garcia, a professional 3D modeller who has created conceptual vehicles and highly detailed models for some of the biggest movies of the past decade, including the Matrix Trilogy, Transformers, the latest Star Trek thrillers and The Avengers, the Porsche 913 is an exquisitely rendered design in every detail. It has a bit of the 918 Spyder about it, but there's also a lot of originality to the design. It looks like a Porsche, but also doesn't copy anything from previous designs, nor has it just ended up looking like just another generic supercar concept. The proposed powertrain for the Porsche 913 is a hybrid setup, although Garcia hasn't said what sort of power the system would offer, or its exact configuration. However the rendering of the engine bay clearly shows a large internal combustion engine (which looks to be in a v-configuration), and next to it a set of wires leading out of an orange box stamped "Hybrid". On the inside the Porsche 913 concept is more refined than the 918 Spyder. It's a little less gadgety and clinical, and more luxurious thanks to the combination of black and brown leather, with perforated sections for areas like the steering wheel and seat cushions, and neat stitching around the dashboard and center console armrest. When the doors are open, the carbon fiber construction of the vehicle can be clearly seen, and this bare carbon fiber look continues into various elements of the interior, like door trim and the center console. And if the thought of a road-going Porsche-badged Ferrari-eater wasn't enough. Then just take a look at the fire-breathing racing version of the Porsche 913 concept, complete with the almost-obligatory Gulf racing livery fitted to every concept race car (that or Martini). --
