Peugeot have announced their intention to add an electric
car to their model line up in 2010.
The Peugeot i0n is scheduled for an introduction towards
the end of 2010, however the pre-production concept vehicle
is already finished and scheduled for an unveiling at
the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Peuegot iOn has a a potential range of 80 miles from
its lithium ion batteries. Recharge time for the batteries
is six-hours using a conventional mains power socket.
However thanks to a fast charging system the batteries
can be topped up to 80 percent in just half an hour.
The electric motor of the i0n produces 64 hp and 180 Nm
of torque, and with a maximum speed of 80 mph it isn't
going to be the most stimulating drive. But with compact
dimensions, a short turning circle, four seats and four
doors it should prove to be a perfect urban commuter. |
