Specter Werkes, based in Troy, Michigan is one of the most respected tuning companies catering for GM products. Since 1990 they have been tweaking vehicles from Chevrolet, Cadillac and Pontiac.

The Specter Werkes C6 GTR is their latest piece of automotive wizardry. This kit gives the Corvette an 800 horsepower engine (top spec model), upgraded chassis components, and a bodykit which doesn't know the meaning of subtle.

Going on display at the 2009 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the display model C6 GTR which Specter Werkes cooked up is powered by a Lingenfelter-tuned 7.0-liter LS7 V8 engine which produces 800 horsepower. Although the company will modify and tune any C6 corvette model from the base C6 all the way up to the mighty Corvette ZR1.

Chassis modifications made to the C6 GTR include a StopTech STR performance brake package with six-piston calipers at the front, and four-piston units at the rear. Both front and rear discs are drilled and slotted. Hotchkis adjustable stabilizer bars have also been added to the suspension system. The wheels are formed from carbon fibre and weigh a mere 10 kgs (22 lbs).

The extra-wide bodywork features carbon fiber details, and whether you like the styling or not there's no denying it takes the aggressive-factor up about 100%. At the rear of the car the matt-black taillight panel looks extremely neat in combination with the gorgeous pearl blue BASF paintwork.
