The 2010 Volvo S60 represents the final confirmation of an entirely
new era of styling for Volvo. When the C30 hatchback was introduced
in 2006 it showed that the company which was world renowned
for making safe but boring vehicles was starting to take aesthetic
design seriously. Then at the 2009 Detroit Motor Show Volvo
took the wraps of the S60
concept. It received almost unanimous praise from the motoring
press and public alike for its bold new shape and sculpted lines.
This concept, it was promised, was designed to preview an upcoming
2010 production model which would share similar styling cues.
Thankfully Volvo has delivered on that promise.
"The all-new Volvo S60 is sculpted to move you. It looks
and drives like no other Volvo before and the car’s technology
will help you to be safer and more confident behind the wheel,"
says Stephen Odell, President and CEO at Volvo Cars. He
continued; "The customers in this segment want emotional
appeal, sporty design and dynamic driving properties. The S60
has it all. We are convinced that it will be one of the strongest
contenders around."
Scheduled to be fully revealed at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show,
the S60 will be produced at Volvo Cars plant in Gent,
Belgium.
The Volvo S60 can be equipped with Pedestrian Detection – a
groundbreaking safety feature that can detect pedestrians in
front of the car and brake automatically if the driver doesn't
react in time.
