The Citroen DS3 Racing is a limited edition version of the DS3
which was developed by Citroën Racing - the team behind
five WRC manufacturers titles and six drivers titles
for Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena.
With integrated carbon-trimmed components and specialist motorsport
derived equipment, the DS3 Racing's tuned and turbo-charged
1.6-litre THP 150 engine develops 207hp - a power increase of
almost 30% over the standard engine. The torque
figure has been bumped up to 275Nm - a 15% increase over the
standard car.
Engine modifications to the DS3 Racing includes a modified turbo,
remapped ECU
and new exhaust system components.
To improve the handling, the DS3 Racing has been given some
chassis upgrades including the fitment of stiffer suspension
springs, adapted front and rear shock absorbers (to handle the
increased power), and the widening of the front and rear tracks
by 30mm - plus lowering the car by 15mm - all dramatically change
the driving dynamics.
The braking system has also been revised to compensate for the
performance increase. The front wheels get 4-piston racing callipers
and special disc-brakes - with drilled discs at the rear. For
enhanced control, the ESP has been adapted to complement the
sportier handling, but can be disengaged according to the drivers
preference.
It's not just a stripped down road rocket either. The Citroen
DS3 Racing's standard equipment includes automatic digital air
conditioning, Bluetooth with USB connectivity and an eight-speaker
HiFi system. DS3 Racing also has some new features such as S.ESP
(Switchable Electronic Stability Programme) and the Citroën
eTouch Assistance System.
The Citroen DS3 Racing also features a bunch of carbon fiber
bits, including components such as the rear diffuser, front
bumper, side rubbing strips and wheel arch extensions. The interior
has received the same special treatment and the extensive use
of carbon fibre continues on the centre console, steering wheel
and door inserts.
The Citroen DS3 Racing is available in two head turning color
combinations, one with an Obsidian Black (pearlescent) body
and a Sport Orange roof, the other features a Polar White body
with a Carbon Grey roof.
