The
Toyota Camry Solara coupe, also more commonly known as the Toyota
Solara, is a mid-size coupe/convertible. The Camry Solara was
designed to appeal to a mildly-sporty demographic of drivers
who would prefer the Solara to the regular Toyota Camry sedan.
Basically the Camry Solara coupe attempts to mix sport car performance
and style with spacious practicality.
Now in its second generation, the first lasting from 1999 -
2003, the new Camry Solara Coupe featured an all-new design
with a more attractive body. Engine options included a 2.4 litre,
inline 4 cylinder, carried on from the previous generation which
developed 157 hp @ 5600 rpm, and a new 3.3 litre V6 unit which
made 225 net @ 5600 rpm giving the car a respectable 0-60 mph
time of 6.9 seconds. Both engines feature Toyota's VVT-i (Variable
Valve Timing) technology.
The top spec SLE model, offers a more luxurious interior with
automatic climate control, wood grain trim, power-adjustable
driver seat, moonroof, a JBL premium audio system with a six-disc
CD changer and, on V6 models, leather seats.
