The
2006 Superformance Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe is a recreation
of the Le Mans winning Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, of which
only six were built.
The Superformance Daytona Coupe is such a perfect tribute to
the original car that Carroll Shelby himself allowed Superformance
to use his name on the car. Part of the attraction of the Superformance
Daytona Coupe is the fact that the original designer and chassis
engineer, Peter Brock and Bob Negstad, were hired to help with
the project.
For the new Daytona Coupe, Superformance have fitted more advanced
components to improve handling and performance over the original
car, while keeping the classic purity of the 1960's racer. Upgrades
to the Superformance Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe include unequal-length
wishbone suspension at all corners (replacing the leaf-spring
suspension in the rear), a more aerodynamic composite body which
is actually larger than the original, electronic door releases
and air conditioning.
