The Maserati GranCabrio Sport is an enhanced version of the
GranCabrio, one which
offers better handling and performance over the standard car,
and also complements vehicles like the GranTurismo
S and Quattroporte
Sport GT S in the company's 'sport' range.
The Maserati GranCabrio Sport uses a more powerful, yet more
efficient, version of Maserati's 4.7 litre V8. The output of
450 horsepower is 10 hp up on the standard car, and the torque
figure of 510 Nm is 20 Nm more than the normal GranCabrio. Despite
these higher performance figures the engine is 6 percent more
efficient on fuel thanks to Maserati's 'Friction Reduction Program'.
This six-speed transmission is fitted with the super-fast MC
Auto Shift software which has been developed for the GranCabrio
Sport directly from the transmission in the Quattroporte Sport
GT S.
The handling of the GranCabrio Sport has also been enhanced
thanks to an upgraded and revised version of the Skyhook active-suspension
system - now with a sportier tuning - and the addition of grooved
and drilled brake discs.
The styling of the Maserati GranCabrio Sport has also undergone
some tweaks to differentiate it from the base car. The changes
start with the black grille and Trident emblem with red accents.
The headlights have been given a sinister black background complimented
by white sidemarkers. Additionally the GranCabrio Sport receives
new front corner splitters and side skirts.
The final change is a new body color for the GranCabrio Sport;
Rosso Trionfale. This rich red paintwork was inspired by the
color used on 1950s racing Maseratis.
