The Quercianella sportscar from Swedish company Laboratorio
BEBI is a design which attempts to offer supercar performance
at a 'reasonable' price. How does somewhere around $270,000
(£150,000) sound?
The Laboratorio BEBI Quercianella gets to 60 miles an hour in
about the same time it takes to pronounce its name, 3 seconds.
It does this by keeping the overall weight extremely low by
using a carbon
fiber monocoque
chassis and carbon fibre body. The Quercianella was developed
by a small team of around 10 individuals each bringing special
skills to the project, and the car has undergone extensive testing
to ensure a high level of performance and quality.
The tongue twister of a name 'Quercianella' is a tribute to
Giotto Bizzarrini, a man who has helped develop many legenary
Italian supercars as well as his own line of prototypes and
supercars. Bizzarini has also helped the Laboratorio BEBI team
with their first concepts. Quercianella is the area he grew
up and lives to this day.
Marketing and sales of the Laboratorio BEBI Quercianella will
begin September 2006 with the first deliveries planned for summer
2007. The final price is not yet set but is expected to be in
the area of 220.000 Euro.
UPDATED - since the cars introduction in 2006 nothing more has
been heard of the project. The company's website also appears
to be down. I think we can safely assume the Laboratorio BEBI
Quercianella is no more.
