The
Jetstream SC250 is a track orientated, road legal roadster which
was first revealed at the Autosport International Motor Show
in the UK.
Powering the Jetstream SC250 is a mid-mounted 250 horsepower,
236 lb-ft of torque, 2.0 litre, turbocharged, 4 cylinder taken
from the Vauxhall Astra VXR. Driving the rear wheels through
a 6 speed manual gearbox, this engine is capable of catapulting
the lightweight (700 kg / 1550 lb) SC250 to 60 mph in under
4 seconds. The top speed is 165 mph.
The engine management system is controlled by an Emerald ECU
and includes two settings Standard (general road use)
and Sports (track).
To bring the car to a halt ventilated 285mm front discs, and
278mm rear discs are gripped by GM calipers. A brake bias adjuster
allows the setup to be tailored to individual driving styles.
The body of the Jetstream SC250 is formed from composite materials.
This is laid over an aluminum monocoque chassis with steel sub-frames
front and rear.
Both front and rear suspension consist of unequal length wishbones
with fixed coil over shocks supplied by Netherlands-based Intrax.
While the Jetstream SC250 is more of a fair weather vehicle,
there is a heating system, and powerpoint for iPod, mobile phone
or navigation system.
As a purely practical consideration, the SC250 uses many parts
from General Motors/Vauxhall, therefore it can be serviced at
almost any garage, with most parts freely available. The composite
body panels are held in stock by Jetstream and can be sprayed
to match a customers car as required making cosmetic
repairs fast and simple.
