Like any self-respecting sports car manufacturer in this day
and age, Jaguar have started making themselves special edition
models as birthday presents. To mark their 75th anniversary
they've come up with this, the Jaguar XKR 75. Thankfully it's
not just a special badge and some stripes which set it apart,
they've also taken the time to tinker with the engineering and
come up with some more power and tighter handling.
The supercharged 5.0 litre of the XKR 75 now produces 530 horsepower
and 655 Nm of torque.
That means the 0-60 mph time has been dropped by 2/10ths of
a second to 4.4 seconds. Of course for most people that's not
much of an issue. But when you pull up at the golf club in one
of these, all the other Hermans in their standard XKRs are going
to know you've got the 'fast one'. And just so they can hear
you coming, the XKR 75 is also equipped with an improved acoustics
package for the semi-active sports exhaust system.
The Jaguar XKR 75 has also had some work done in the suspension
department to ensure increased agility and precision. The changes
include increased spring and damper rates, a 15mm reduction
in ride height, and a recalibrated Adaptive Dynamics damper
control system.
To match sportier suspension setup, Jaguar's aerodynamic
engineers have also played with the bodywork to provide added
stability at speed. They've done this through a combination
of a new front splitter, deeper side sills, a rear diffuser
and a larger rear spoiler. Other exterior changes include unique
'Stratus Grey' paintwork, optional graphics, red brake calipers and 20" lightweight alloy wheels with a dark grey
finish.
The interior of the XKR 75 is trimmed in charcoal leather with
contrasting ivory stitching. The trim pieces and center console
are finished in high-gloss black.
Jaguar are only making 75 examples of the special edition car
- expect to pay about 15 percent more than you would for a run
of the mill XKR coupe. Oh yeah, and you also need to be living
in either the UK, Germany, France, Italy, The Netherlands or
Belgium.
