Gumpert have been kicking ass and taking names since 2005 when they rolled out the very first Apollo. Since then they've also developed the more mild mannered Tornante GT car. But the brutal Apollo has always been kinda their thing. For the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, Gumpert developed two even more hardcore versions of the Apollo, one for the track and one for the road. The track car, which was called the Gumpert Apollo R, is an 860 hp monster. While the Apollo Enraged is a limited edition street car - limited to just three units.
The Apollo Enraged is fitted with a 780 horsepower 4.2 litre Audi-sourced V8, and it's about the closest you can get to a Le Mans car and still be road legal. Weighing in at just 1,175 kgs (2,590 lbs) the Apollo Enraged has a phenomenal power to weight ratio, and that's backed up by a chassis which has proven itself time and time again to be one of the world's best.
Commenting on the two cars, Roland Gumpert said; "Ok, so perhaps it is a bit crazy to take the most extreme, barely still street legal vehicle and make it even more extreme. But the idea behind the enraged, just like the Apollo R itself, embodies our philosophy and our understanding of PURE GERMAN SPEED with absolute consistency." And lets face it. There's no arguing with German engineers.
