The
La Bala from US based Grabercars is a lightweight sports car
designed around the Toyota MR2 drivetrain - although other
drivetrain options can be used.
The car was conceived as a light weight performance vehicle
with attractive styling, and crucially, low cost. The La Bala's
creator, Steve Graber, designed the car as his own personal
vehicle. However the plans are available for others to follow
and create their own "La Bala". The plans include
chassis and suspension plans, parts list, and assembly guide.
Also on offer are a range of precut and formed chassis members,
body panels, body shells and complete chassis packs. The entire
car can also be ordered and delivered in a crate ready for
assembly.
Grabercars are currently developing a La Bala model which
is powered by, not one, but two 1300cc Suzuki Hayabusa bike
engines. This drivetrain would create around 500 horsepower
and incorporate a 6 speed sequential transmission with electric reverse.
