Following hot on the heels of the Ginetta
G50, the little British sports car company has just released
some of the details on their upcoming G55 race car.
Both the G50 and the G55 will be eligible to compete in the
one-make race series the Ginetta GT Supercup. Current
owners of the G50 will also be offered an upgrade package to
bring their cars up to the G55's specifications.
The Ginetta G55 is powered by a 3.7 litre Ford Duratech V6 engine
which has been tuned to develop 370 horsepower. This is mated
to a Hewland gearbox which channels the power to the rear wheels.
Ginetta Boss, Lawrence Tomlinson said of the car and the Ginetta
GT Supercup race series: "The G50 has dominated GT4 since
its launch 2 years ago and proved itself as a real stepping
stone into the GT4 arena. By introducing the G55 into the new
Ginetta GT Supercup, I want to broaden Ginetta's offering to
all drivers expanding our career ladder even further and highlight
a real route into GT3 - whilst still providing an affordable
way to enjoy top level racing."
