Well
established kit car manufacturers, Factory Five, created the
GTM out of their vision of an affordable American Supercar.
Like Factory Five's other models the GTM is also a kit, and
you have to source the GM drivetrain yourself. The GTM is powered
by an aluminium block GM V8, an engine with a limitless variety
of configurations and power outputs.
This is mated to a Porsche 911 transaxle, allowing for the mid-mounted
engine position.
All this is housed in an aluminium and steel tube frame wrapped
in an attractive, if somewhat generic, composite bodyshell.
To help the home builder in their construction, the GTM's suspension,
brakes and performance parts are lifted from the high-spec Corvette
C-5 and other OEM GM performance components.
Despite being a 'supercar' the interior of the Factory Five
GTM has been fitted out with the luxuries most American drivers
have come to expect, including; air conditioning, power windows
and plenty of sound deadening and space.
