The Corvette Z06 Carbon is a special limited edition version
of the Z06, one which
borrows some technology and engineering from the incredible
Corvette ZR1.
Only 500 examples are due to be built.
"For track use, the Z06 Carbon is the best balanced
Corvette yet. It combines the lightweight and naturally-aspirated
Z06 engine with the road-holding and braking of the ZR1,"
said Tadge Juechter, Corvette Chief Engineer. "For
technical tracks like Laguna Seca, the Z06 Carbon could shave
up to three seconds off the Z06 lap time."
The Z06 Carbon achieves this thanks to a range of modifications
including, yep you guessed it, carbon fiber components. The
car features a lightweight carbon fiber hood (even lighter than
the ZR1's thanks to the lack of a window), and black painted
carbon fiber sideskirts and splitter.
The Z06 Carbon also gets the ZR1's Brembo carbon ceramic brakes
with dark gray metallic calipers. Other mechanical upgrades
derived from the ZR1 include the Magnetic Selective Ride Control
system, and an enhanced cooling system.
The Corvette Z06 Carbon is available in two colors: Inferno
Orange and the all-new Supersonic Blue. Black headlamps, wheels
and mirrors give the car a more sinister edge. Optional racing
numbers come supplied with the car.
The Z06 Carbon's ebony leather and suede interior is complemented
by blue or orange seat stitching to match the exterior color
chosen. Other features include a unique steering wheel emblem,
sill plate and embroidered headrest.
