For the 2010 model year Kawasaki has given their range-topping
muscle bike a comprehensive styling revision and an all-new
engine. In fact just about the only thing the 2010 Z1000 shares
with the previous generation Z1000 is the name.
Since its introduction the Z1000 has always been an aggressively
styled bike which tends to get more admirers than detractors.
The new, ultra-angular bodywork and revised styling only serves
to enhance the bike's appeal. And in the white/orange and matt-black
color scheme pictured here it looks amazing.
The 2010 Kawasaki Z1000 benefits from an all-new 1043 cc, inline
4-cylinder which replaces the previous 953 cc unit. This offers
slightly more power than the old engine - with the figures standing
at 136 horsepower and 91 lb-ft of torque. The engine has been
tweaked to maximise the low and midrange power, at the expense
of screaming high-rpm peak power - a decision which should suit
the overall characteristics of the bike.
The 2010 Z1000 not only features new looks and new power. The
frame itself is all-new and for the first time the Z1000 is
equipped with a lightweight aluminium twin-spar frame.
A
new horizontally mounted rear monoshock has been fitted which
helps lower the seat height, and free up some space around the
engine for the new exhaust system.
