In 2006 model line up, Ducati decided to extend the SR range
with the addition of a new Monster S2R, equipped with the 1000
DS engine. The Monster S2R 1000 was intended to fill a gap between
the 803cc S2R and the top spec 996 engined S4R.
The twin vertically stacked silencers mounted on the right side
of the bike and the single-sided swingarm made from aluminium
alloy show the bikes SR connection.
The Monster S2R 1000 is offered in a new subtle grey colour
scheme with a longitudinal black stripe complemented by black
rims, in addition to the classic red with white stripe and the
aggressive black with white stripe colour combinations.
The Monster S2R 1000 offered great handling and plenty of mid-range
power. On the downside the suspension wasn't great and neither
were the brakes. It could also feel a bit small for larger riders.
