The Ducati ST4S uses the Superbike 996 cc Desmoquattro engine
with liquid-cooling, computer-controlled fuel-injection,
11.5:1 compression ratio, 50 mm throttle bodies and a six-speed
transmission. A new "wet" clutch has been added for
less clutch lever pull effort and quieter operation.
The engine is matched to an equally advanced chassis and suspension.
Fully adjustable Showa forks with TiN treatment are used in
conjunction with an Öhlins rear shock. A lightweight, aluminum
swingarm compliments the race-derived suspension system.
The signature Ducati trellis
frame, derived from from Ducati World Superbikes rolls on
5-spoke Marchesini wheels and sticky racing-derived tires.
