The Ducati 999S sat in between the 999 and the 999R in the company's
superbike lineup.
It featured many of the performance components of the R model,
but was a little toned down compared to the track-orientated
flagship bike.
The 999S benefitted from upgraded suspension system which consisted
of Ohlins forks and rear monoshock. The suspension is adjustable
for preload, compression and rebound. An Ohlins steering damper
is also fitted.
Complimenting the well designed steel trellis frame and high-spec
suspension are powerful Brembo brakes with radial calipers.
The engine of the Ducati 999S differs from the standard 999's
unit in a number of ways. Firstly its lighter thanks to a lighweight
crankshaft and titanium con rods. Track riders can also install
the supplied power booster racing kit which increases output
to 143 hp @ 9,750 rpm.
