The Ducati 999, the replacement for the iconic 916, was introduced
in 2003.
Its styling is far more controversial than that of the stunning
916. Although if you can get past the looks, it is a considerably
more advanced machine underneath.
The Ducati 999 features a fully adjustable suspension system.
Upside-down 43 mm Showa forks with low friction TiN treatment
and a Showa rear shock provide a good ride for most road and
track conditions. Properly setup, the suspension system is great
on track. It can be a bit stiff on bumpier roads.
The engine is a powerful V-twin lump dispacing 999cc. It offers
plenty of torque, and a great soundtrack through the Termignoni
silencers.
2005 and onwards, the 999 got a little better and more reliable
due to revisions on to the motor which improved cooling
and oil flow.
