The Ducati 749 was the replacement middle weight sports bike
which took over where the gorgeous 748 left off.
The Ducati 749 brought improved reliability, and featured more
gadgets than the 748, but not many people will argue that the
749 was the better looking machine. The stacked round headlights
and busier tail section just can't compete with the nearly flawless
lines of the 748.
The Ducati 749 has a great chassis, and arguably the 749 is
better in the corners than the larger-engined 999. It's well
balanced and precise in the corners.
Earlier bikes 2003 - 2004 had a lower output engine, and even
the later models are a bit lacking in power compared to some
of the Japanese competition.
The engine is a 749 cc 90-degree V-twin producing 98 horsepower
@ 10,000 rpm.
