The
Buell X1 Lightning, like all Buell bikes, uses a Harley-Davidson
sourced engine block. To this electronic fuel injection is added,
the X1 Lightning has lots of low down torque
with power trailing off at higher rpms.
A stiff perimeter frame is used with fully adjustable Showa
forks, the rear shock is slung under the bike to conform to
Buell's 'mass centralisation' design philosophy.
The short frame and steep steering angle coupled with an upright
riding position make the X1 Lightning a quick steering and agile
bike.
A short article on Buell's
radical engineering.
