The Bimota DB4 was a stylish lightweight sports bike which featured,
as expected from Bimota, a well balanced chassis stuffed with
an engine from another manufacturer. In this case it's a V-twin
from Ducati, the 900ss to be precise.
The internals of the engine are unchanged from the Ducati, although
Bimota add their own exhaust and also replace the fuel injection
system with Mikuni carbs and an in-house designed airbox.
It's a small bike in size, and light too. That means taller
riders might find it a bit uncomfortable. Short to average riders
will fit quite nicely.
Highlights of the Bimota DB4's chassis include Paioli front
forks, an Ohlins rear monoshock and Brembo brakes. These, combined
with a well designed frame, make the Bimota DB4 a beautifully
balanced machine. Not the fastest in a straight line, but straight
lines are boring. |
