When you think of Range Rover's you generally think of giant
lumbering mechanical beasts which are very good at going over
and through rough terrain, while at the same time keeping the
occupants enclosed in a little bubble of luxury and comfort.
Well for the all-new Range Rover Evoque those two character
traits have been toned down just a little bit. It still looks
like a Range Rover, but this vehicle is a bit more timid when
it comes to going off-road.
It's the first Range Rover model ever to come with a 2WD option,
and it's also the most fuel efficient model the company has
ever produced. In fact almost everything about the Evoque is
smaller, lighter and cheaper than it's stable mates like the
Range Rover and Range
Rover Sport.
The styling of the vehicle is closely based on that of the LRX
concept car from 2008. Thankfully most of the features which
made the LRX a crowd pleaser, have been integrated into the
Evoque's overall design.
The Evoque is intended to be sold all over the world, in over
160 different countries. So this is a massively important vehicle
for the company as a whole. Hopefully if they can get a good
balance between affordable and luxury - without skimping on
the important stuff - they'll be onto a winner.
