The Black Hills, South Dakota, USA provide the setting for one
of the worlds largest and best known sculptures. The presidents
Washington, Jefferson, Roosvelt and Lincoln immortalised in
rock 500 ft up and 60 ft high.
The sculpture was started in 1927 and took 14 years to complete,
although weather conditions played a major part in extending
the constuction time.
The mountain is named after Charles E. Rushmore who investigated
mining claims in the area back in 1885. |
