Camshaft

The camshaft is a shaft in an engine that is driven by gears, belts, or chains from the crankshaft, and on which a cam (or cams) is mounted. The camshaft incorporates a series of cam lobes for timing the opening and closing of the engine's intake and exhaust valves.
