Adjustable
Suspension
An
adjustable suspension system can vary the firmness of shock
absorbers while a vehicle is being driven in order to give
better ride comfort or handling. Some adjustable suspension
systems automatically sense road conditions and change the
shock absorber settings accordingly. Others include a switch
on the instrument panel or console that allows the driver
to select shock-absorber settings to provide a softer or firmer
ride, or sharper handling.
Some adjustable suspension systems require that the car be
stopped and the work carried out manually.
