Just so we're clear. The Volkswagen Beetle concept you
see before you here is not an official proposal for the
next generation Beetle. Instead it is one man's idea of
what the car could look like. That man is Belgian designer
David Cardoso.
The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle concept which Cardoso proposes
is noticeably more masculine in design than its predecessor.
It's still hardly what you'd call a tough-looking car,
but it does have a bit more aggression injected into the
design.
The lines and proportions of the 2012 Beetle concept are
quite in keeping with the current slew of European hot
hatches and superminis. In fact from some angles it takes
on a sort of Alfa Romeo MiTo / Renault Clio hybrid appearance.
The drivetrain which has been proposed for the concept
is an all-electric setup. Although no details at to what
this could entail have been provided.
