The Snake Road concept motorcycle was created by Bruno
Delussu, the talented French designer who also developed
the Bugatti Stratos
concept.
The Snake Road concept was not designed with any particular
manufacturer in mind. Instead it is a fanciful creation
designed to offer a glimpse of what the future cruiser
might look like.
The bike gets its name from the idea that the raised and
flattened area of the bodywork looks like a cobra ready
to strike.
The two most influential inspirations for the design of
the Snake Road motorcycle concept are the Imperial Speeder
bike from the Star Wars films, and the jaw dropping futuristic
creations of Simon Daniel.
Because Bruno is a biker as well as a designer, he wanted
the futuristic vision of a motorcycle to retain some of
the characteristics which appeal to all bikers. That means
that instead of a quiet electric motor, the Snake Road
is powered by a traditional internal combustion engine
providing a throaty rumble. Also, to a add a hint of nostalgia,
instead of a digital speedometer there is a large analog
speedo dial mounted into the bodywork.
For the body, Bruno proposed a fiberglass construction.
However in a future where composite materials like carbon
fiber and carbon Kevlar are increasingly cheaper, these
materials also could also be used.
The Snake Road is of course just a whimsical design which
is not intended to resemble anything which will be on
the streets anytime soon. But as a classic piece of imagineering
it's great to see.
