The Skoda VisionD is a sleek looking midsize model, and
the first vehicle to wear Skoda's new design language.
The new-look Skoda style is fairly generic. Other than
the wide-winged 'v' shaped Skoda grille there isn't really
much to connect the design to Skoda's of the past - but
perhaps that's a good thing. Unfortunately there also
isn't much to make the car stand out from the crowd.
Skoda's head of marketing and sales said of the VisionD
concept and the style it's introducing: "We are
keen to express the new power of our brand not only through
our future products, but also in the way we present ourselves
to partners and customers. Skoda is synonymous with attractive
cars offering exceptional value for money, countless clever
solutions and precisely executed work. All this is clearly
reflected by our updated corporate design. As it forges
ahead, Skoda is eager to flex its newfound strength in
the international arena."
Skoda say that the long wheelbase and short front and
rear overhangs are an integral part of their new designs.
This is because the layout offers more interior space
and packaging options. Clearly the VisionD obeys this
new Skoda styling rule.
In the next few years expect all new Skodas to share some
features and styling elements with the VisionD.
