Rinspeed has a long tradition of developing eyebrow raising
concept cars to show off at the Geneva Motor Show every
year. The E-GO Rocket was no exception.
Unveiled at the 1998 show the E-GO Rocket was a thoroughly
unpractical single seat sports car with unique styling
inspired by the Bonneville salt flats land speed record
cars of the 1940's.
Mounted just behind the driver was a 4.6 litre supercharged
V8 from Hyundai. This engine produced 410 horsepower and
was capable of propelling the E-GO Rocket at speeds of
up to 162 mph. Thanks to the lightweight composite bodyshell
the 0-60 mph sprint took just 4.8 seconds.
Despite the racing influences and open-air cockpit the
interior was well appointed and featured satellite navigation
and a multimedia system with CD/radio. The seat was upholstered
in a mixture of leather and denim.
